Pizza chain location expansion strong in 2023: Technomic

Canada’s largest pizza chains saw some of the strongest footprint expansion in 2023, according to Technomic’s latest research.

Pizza Hut led the charge by opening 46 new stores during the year. Pizza Pizza added 28 new locations to its network, followed by 20 new openings by Domino’s. All three pizza players each now operate more than 600 Canadian locations.

Overall location development surged in Canada in 2023. Top 200 chains added a cumulative net total of more than 750 stores at nearly 2.8 per cent growth, the largest increase observed since 2016.
